2.     FOCUS:  Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone, including words with multiple meanings or language that is particularly fresh, engaging, or beautiful.
a.     Using your choice text:
                                                        i.     Create a question about a challenging word, requiring students to decipher its meaning.
                                                       ii.     Create a question about a word that is used in more than one way, requiring students to address how the word is used figuratively/connotatively
                                                      iii.     Choose a word (or word phrase), and create a question that requires students to address the words’ impact on meaning and tone
